I remember when someone asked me why I came to Ireland. I said…I came here to create values for this country, for the company where I work and for myself as well. Although this journey was not easy, I made it. Harvesting fruits after all is so tasty. So, I hope this story will inspire you as well and give you encouragement to make steps for your better future.
When thinking of the first period of my time in Ireland, I can’t help but think about sleeping in hostel rooms for up to 16 people. During that exhausting period there have been so many concerns. Every morning when I left the hostel, I started looking for the answer…Where to go today? Should I go to the left or to the right side? It was a challenging time so I wasn’t sure what to expect from tomorrow. Will I be lucky today finding a job and settling myself into the new environment? If I have had anyone to ask for help I would have been grateful and treasured the most.
I just needed any help with finding any transport company who needed professionals, any support in finding a place to live and information about the documents.I was worried but never stopped believing in success. My English was not good enough to write all the applications and understand all the questionnaires but I kept trying to get even a small opportunity to prove my skill to someone. I can recall my eight attempts to communicate with this company where they gave me promises every time I came, I said to them this was their last chance to hire me before I go further. That was the key at the time for my first opportunity. I was so grateful to The God and ready to be the best employee I can.
I felt the boss was satisfied with my work, so the feeling everyone is looking at me disappeared soon. That happened three years ago and now I can say I know the main concerns one may have when in my position. So I assisted the employment for over 30 drivers since then. I have helped directly or indirectly to drivers looking for a better position who didn’t know what, when and how. I’ve acted as the help which I’ve never had.
Then I realised I can make it official, helping all the drivers and the companies to avoid the trouble I have had. My knowledge in this segment of the business is precious and I believe, together with my team, this can be a huge help for both sides, drivers and companies. Making them happy makes me happy because I am doing what I love and what I know the best.
